Fatality count
The observed, reported, measured, or estimated fatality count for an event, on the basis and date stated by the source.
Sources that carry it
12 sourcesGlobal event-level living dataset of reported political violence, demonstrations (including protests and riots), and selected strategic developments. Available through an authenticated API in JSON, CSV, and XML and through account-gated export/download surfaces, with arbitrary country, administrative-area, location, date, taxonomy, actor, and other filters. Event rows are revised as better information appears; row timestamp, response update metadata, and a coordinated deleted-event endpoint support refreshes, but ACLED no longer publishes formal dataset versions after Version 8. This Source excludes CAST forecasts, Trends risk intelligence, alerts, Explorer summaries, and other modeled products. It is not a verified property-loss record: property effects are explicit only where the taxonomy or notes report them.
Living global disaster-country flat table, 1900-present, updated weekly and available as a complete XLSX after registration. Commercial entities can buy a documented annual licence.
Event-level downloadable data file covering more than 200,000 domestic and transnational terrorist incidents worldwide from 1970 through 2020, with no incident file for 1993. The latest page citation is the 2022 release. Raw data are obtained after a brief active download form. Ordinary terms permit non-commercial research and analysis; commercial use requires an additional agreement. Collection stopped after partial 2021 work for lack of funding, so there is no promised current release cadence. START may correct records when new documentation appears and has no obligation to update.
Ongoing global historical database of related tsunami source-event and observed runup-location tables, spanning 2100 BC to the present. It emits event source/time/location, cause, validity, magnitude/intensity, maximum water height and historical effects plus runup observation location, arrival/travel time, measurement type, water height, horizontal inundation and location effects. Reporting is heterogeneous and is neither a completeness claim nor prospective hazard. Pin DOI 10.7289/V5PN93H7, retrieval date/query and API schema.
Annual final national files for every qualifying U.S. fatal motor-vehicle traffic crash, with coordinated crash, vehicle, person, ordered event, circumstance, decoded-vehicle, imputation, and auxiliary tables. Inventory is pinned to 2024 Final and does not claim nonfatal or preliminary coverage.
Pinned archival U.S. event dataset covering 403 disasters from 1980–2024. Costs are total direct economic losses from insured and uninsured sources, not insured losses. Pin to accession 0209268 v21.21, revised 2025-01-21.
Ongoing global historical database of significant volcanic eruptions from 4360 BC to present. An event qualifies if it caused fatalities, caused moderate damage (about USD 1 million or more), had VEI 6+, generated a tsunami, or was associated with a significant earthquake. HazEL emits event timing, volcano identity/location, VEI, fatality agents, direct eruption effects, combined associated effects, comments, and association IDs. It is not the complete GVP catalogue, a current-alert feed, or a prospective hazard model.
Authenticated commercial interactive lookup for historical natural-catastrophe data. External sign-up is offered; no reusable file, API, batch contract, current public schema, or current revision mechanics were verified.
Versioned county-level U.S. hazard-loss database offered through registered buyer-defined queries and licensed reusable CSV downloads. Property damage is not insured loss; crop indemnity is separately identified.
Open SPC historical severe-report database compiled from NWS Storm Data, currently covering U.S. tornadoes 1950–2025 and hail/damaging wind 1955–2025. Annual/full-period CSVs and SVRGIS path/initial-point shapefiles are one product family. Tornado files include raw state/county segments and de-segmented actual tracks. Magnitude means F/EF rating for tornado, inches for hail, and knots for wind with measured/estimated gust/sustained qualifier. Dated releases can correct and reprocess records, so retain release metadata. It is not a complete census, radar footprint, or building-impact dataset. SVRGIS creates a 0.0001-degree offset endpoint when no real endpoint was reported.
Free standing account-based query and download channel for CHP-maintained California SWITRS Crash, Party, and Victim data. TIMS supplies the last ten years of final data plus recent provisional data, geocoded coordinates, release-status distinctions, and a complete field codebook. Use is subject to TIMS attribution, disclaimer, litigation-use, and 23 U.S.C. §409 terms; traffic-crash report documents are not included.
Daily crash-grain E-Crash public data for CPD-jurisdiction crashes on Chicago streets. Coverage begins partially in 2015 and is citywide only from September 2017; finalized and amended reports update rows. Officer-recorded conditions are not independently inferred weather.
