Event name
The observed, reported, measured, or estimated event name for an event, on the basis and date stated by the source.
Sources that carry it
24 sourcesCommercial proprietary historical catastrophe database and portal with more than 30,000 records, 230+ countries and territories, quarterly releases, economic and insured loss, casualties, affected structures, and country breakouts.
Event- and AOI-specific Rapid Mapping Grading (GRA) products derived from post-event satellite imagery and other geospatial sources. A grading product reports event extent and damage grade/spatial distribution for assets including building points or polygons. Public activation APIs expose event, imagery, AOI, product, version, issue, layer and download metadata; completed public products are downloadable as vector ZIPs and, for current deliveries, GeoPackages. Damage classes are Destroyed, Damaged, Possibly damaged, No visible damage and Not Analysed. `Damaged` aggregates EMS-98 grades 1–3, `Destroyed` aggregates grades 4–5, and `Possibly damaged` records lower interpretation confidence. Results are imagery-based proxies, not field-confirmed ground truth. Availability is limited to produced, non-sensitive activation/AOI products.
Living global disaster-country flat table, 1900-present, updated weekly and available as a complete XLSX after registration. Commercial entities can buy a documented annual licence.
Free public OpenFEMA API and reusable full-file distributions for all official FEMA declarations since 1953. Records include declaration identity and type, incident type and begin/end dates, designated state/area and geographic codes, incident id, and last-refresh timestamp.
Current public v3 OpenFEMA dataset of redacted National Flood Insurance Program claim transactions. FEMA states that the product is derived from the NFIP system of record, redacted to protect policyholder PII, updated approximately monthly, and available through a public API plus reusable CSV and Parquet full-file distributions. The catalogue proposal intentionally excludes granular location, household, property, financial, and record-id fields.
Commercial per-event CONUS flood-data product. Floodbase licenses daily event footprints showing flood location, extent, and vendor-described severity while an event develops, then delivers an event-summary dataset with maximum observed flooding and a daily time series. Buyers can purchase an available event on demand; files are delivered through ArcGIS Online, secure cloud storage, or an agreed integration. Internally generated hourly footprints are delivered as daily event data under the current offer.
Public global disaster-notification product exposed through standing RSS/CAP feeds and a documented REST API. The public feed emits event/episode identity, event interval, point, affected countries, tropical-cyclone maximum-wind severity, modification time and event version. It is automatic indicative event evidence, not a sovereign disaster declaration and not an insured-loss product.
NHC's official post-storm best-track data product for Atlantic cyclones from 1851 and Northeast/North Central Pacific cyclones from 1949. Two basin files are delivery partitions of one HURDAT2 product. Records provide native six-hourly and selected asynoptic positions, status, winds, central pressure, wind radii, and landfall/peak identifiers.
Global commercial flood-event data product combining SAR observations, auxiliary data, algorithms, and machine learning. It publishes frequently updated event extent and post-peak maximum flood extent and depth at building level. Customers can browse and download deliverables in the ICEYE Solutions Suite Event Intelligence Hub, query deliverables through the ISS API, or receive the same product through partner integrations. This is observed/model-assisted event data, not a probabilistic hazard map.
Commercial event intelligence product for impactful wildfires and bushfires. ICEYE combines SAR observations, building footprints, auxiliary fire data, machine learning, and expert analysis to deliver event-scoped building-level vector results. The documented damage output locates assessed structures by latitude/longitude points or building footprints and assigns a binary structural-damage classification of destroyed or undamaged. The product also includes an Esri monitoring application using active-fire locations/perimeters, hotspots, building footprints, and populated urban centres. Results are updated during qualifying events; service availability is currently documented for the United States, Australia, and Canada and is not universal event coverage.
Versioned global multi-agency tropical-cyclone best-track collection. NCEI merges recent and historical agency tracks and publishes v04r01 as complete and subset CSV, NetCDF, and shapefile downloads. The product includes best and provisional tracks; release/version identity is v04r01 and the landing page supplies its update schedule. It is not a substitute name for native HURDAT2.
Commercial standing event-response catalogue of selected major flood footprints. JBA monitors global conditions and publishes event commentary, reports, and footprints; documented footprint files are available through its Client Portal or by request to its event-response address. The Storm Henk example contains modelled event extent and depth derived from JBA hazard maps, so this Source must not be described as direct satellite-observed inundation.

Standing archive of NHC/CPHC advisory forecast track, cone-of-uncertainty and watches/warnings bundles, with related wind-field files, published as downloadable shapefile/KML packages by storm and advisory. This Source preserves forecast-at-issuance evidence and is distinct from final HURDAT2 post-analysis. Geometry remains in source files and is not flattened into speculative scalar Features.
Free governmental ArcGIS REST feature service publishing NIFC WFIGS wildfire incident perimeter polygons with incident name, fire discovery date, containment date, and perimeter-as-of date. Supports spatial queries for point-in-polygon intersection and attribute-based filtering. Full dataset available as open bulk download.
Pinned archival U.S. event dataset covering 403 disasters from 1980–2024. Costs are total direct economic losses from insured and uninsured sources, not insured losses. Pin to accession 0209268 v21.21, revised 2025-01-21.
Ongoing global historical database of significant volcanic eruptions from 4360 BC to present. An event qualifies if it caused fatalities, caused moderate damage (about USD 1 million or more), had VEI 6+, generated a tsunami, or was associated with a significant earthquake. HazEL emits event timing, volcano identity/location, VEI, fatality agents, direct eruption effects, combined associated effects, comments, and association IDs. It is not the complete GVP catalogue, a current-alert feed, or a prospective hazard model.
Illinois EPA Office of Emergency Response incident tracker layer, including incident type and status, released material and amount, location, responsible party, responders, dates, and response actions.
Annual commercial subscription with standing portal access. One boundary contains complementary CORE exposure/loss data and EXTENDED country-level loss data; public releases and the portal are not separate Sources.
Separately licensed transaction-specific catastrophe industry-loss index service with a continuous trading-license master agreement and event report sequence. Customer transaction limit is excluded from Features.
EPA Region 1 spreadsheet of leaking underground storage tank releases on Indian land, with facility identity, tribal affiliation, release status, event history, address, coordinates, and land status.
Versioned county-level U.S. hazard-loss database offered through registered buyer-defined queries and licensed reusable CSV downloads. Property damage is not insured loss; crop indemnity is separately identified.
Florida State Watch Office (SWO) oil and hazardous-materials spill/incident archive — the 'Hazardous Materials/Petroleum Spills (SWO Incidents)' feature layers hosted in the FL Division of Emergency Management ArcGIS Online org and published for FL DEP. 22,153 statewide incidents (Hazardous Materials 22,041 + Petroleum Spill 112), full historical archive reported 2011-07 through 2024-08. The two upstream layers (identical schema) are unioned into one source; IncidentType/source_layer distinguish them. Each record carries incident ID/number/type/name, status, county, dates, signed WGS84 coordinates, report URL, and (where available) facility name, address, chemical released, amount, and CERCLA §304 flag.
Public REST services behind the USGS Short-Term Network and Flood Event Viewer. The API supports event, site, and location-based retrieval of high-water marks and returns event/site identifiers, coordinates, flag and survey dates, surveyed elevation, vertical datum, mark quality, height above ground, and riverine/coastal environment.
Commercial, non-contributory Elements product that automatically analyzes post-disaster Gray Sky imagery and returns event-scoped, property/building-attributed damage records together with available pre-catastrophe attributes. The separate Damage API offers coverage, event, extract, tile, count, and PDF-report services; official documentation says assessments are generally generated within 24 hours after Gray Sky imagery publication. Exact outputs include post-catastrophe collection/event, capture date, image id, camera technology, GSD, orientation source, model version, roof debris/missing-material/structural-damage/tarp percentages, solar-panel and water-heater damage detections, and approximate FEMA classification. Availability is limited to properties inside qualifying post-disaster Gray Sky collections; it is not a causation opinion or a claim-specific commissioned report.
